Our Village Beaumontois en Perigord

Beaumont-du-Perigord is a beautifully preserved medieval village. Its wonderful buildings are built of honey-colored stone, typical of the Dordogne.

The ‘Bastide’ village of Beaumont was built for King Edward 1st of England in 1272, configured with narrow cobbled streets leading from a central market square, which has been fully restored in recent years.

The square is the village’s market space & meeting place, surrounded by shops, cafés and bars - it is also a wonderful venue for events from brocantes (antique fayres) to the evening Marché Gourmand that takes place every Monday in July & August.

There are numerous providers along the river where you can hire a canoe or kayak, with routes available for various skill levels and trip lengths. After a scenic paddle, guests are collected and returned to the starting point, making it a convenient and enjoyable way to experience the river.

For a more leisurely exploration, take a trip on a gabarre, a traditional flat-bottomed boat.
